Welcome To Niagara Peninsula Geological Society
NPGS was founded in 1962 at the home of Dr. Robert Fisher. The society’s charter was granted on March 11, 1964. Over the next few years, the club continued to grow, with several field trips organized and its first annual gem & mineral show.
From such a humble beginning, the Society has grown into a vibrant community of people from all walks of life. From first-time “pebble pups”, interested amateurs, enthusiastic rockhounds, avid collectors, and geological professionals –all members share the fellowship, discovery, and fun that have always been a trademark of the NPGS.
NPGS is part of the Central Canadian Federation of Mineralogical Societies (CCFMS). CCFMS is a nonprofit federation of rock, mineral, and lapidary clubs for geology hobbyists in central Canada. The CCFMS serves as a collective voice for a number of amateur geology clubs located in central Canada – currently, Manitoba, Ontario, and Québec.
Everyone is welcome to join NPGS!
Whether you're a seasoned geologist or just starting your rock hounding journey, the NPGS offers something for everyone.
